The researchers in the center are the core part of the Fuzhou University team of applied mathematics, which is a key subject supported by the provincial government. The founding of the center was part of the Fuzhou University "211 project". Currently, the center has 10 members (all having PhD degrees) and 30 postgraduate students. Among these regular members, there are 7 full professors and 2 associate professors, with 5 being approved PhD supervisors. The director of the center is Professor Fan Ganghua, who obtained the "Outstanding Youth Award" from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 1998, and is currently the leader of a key project of the NSFC. Professor Fan Genghua has supervised 10 PhD students and 5 postdoctoral fellows at Arizona State University, USA and the Institute of Systems Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The center has a PhD program on applied mathematics and MS programs on basic mathematics, applied mathematics, operations research and control theory.
